Tsunami Survivor: A Personal Story
This gentleman was sitting alone in the village area of Batticaloa, Sri Lanka, where his home once stood. He had rebuilt his home with bundled debris, coconut tree branches and pieces of extraneous building parts. He greeted our team as we surveyed this area and agreed to tell us his story.

NCEASL has been actively involved in the relief and reconstruction efforts following the December 2004 tsunami. One of their team directors, Gabby, a native of Papua, New Guinea, recounts his story of arriving in the Batticaloa area on the east coast of Sri Lanka the day after the tsunami.
