the face of natural or man-made disasters.
Organizational Values:
1. Respect: We value the basic human dignity of the people we serve.
We embrace differences in culture, spirituality, belief systems and
trauma recovery and grieving processes.
2. Integrity: We hold paramount the trust of our supporters, colleagues
and people we serve and strive to embody the highest level of ethical
standards in our work.
3. Professionalism: We are committed to providing quality mental health
services and training through adherence to international standards of
excellence in the fields of mental health and disaster relief.
4. Effective Partnerships: We are committed to engaging in
collaborative efforts with local, national, and international entities to ensure
appropriate, coordinated, and on-going care.
5. Sustainability: We recognize the long-term affects of
disaster-related trauma. We believe mental health disaster programs led by local
community members and integrated into existing networks offer the greatest
opportunity for lasting success.
6. Neutrality: We fulfill our mission by promoting disaster relief
mental health services irrespective of the religious or political beliefs
held by potential recipients.
7. Empowerment: We believe in building the capacity of local talent to
lead and deliver trauma relief efforts in their own communities.
8. Holistic: We support a whole systems approach to meeting the needs
of disaster survivors. We recognize the role that natural systems, such
as family, community, and spirituality play in the healing process.
